Ok Mr. President... you've got my attention
I have to give President Obama credit on this one... it's about time the US started making more of a move towards preserving our planet and "Going Green." In light of some people's thoughts on this, I believe it is a huge deal! As an interior design major, I am faced with the challenge every single day of using sustainable resources and thinking about the whole life cycle of the product for the end user. That is my job and my responsibility to my chosen profession. It is estimated that 5 billion lbs.+ of carpet are dumped into a landfill every year... 5 billion! And trust me, it's going to cost you or whatever company unintalls it a pretty penny to be able to dump it into that landfill. What a waste when we could recycle that carpet creating less waste and establishing a whole new product. If you are unfamiliar with McDonough's "Cradle to Cradle" biomimetic approach to the design of systems you should really take time to educate yourself about it. See, it's not just my responsibility because of my profession, it is my responsibility because I live on this planet... and so, it is your responsibiliy also... just a thought...
